Before delving into the steps to become a doctor. You should be very clear about the reason why you want to be a doctor in India. Although the profession of a doctor is very noble the journey is very daunting and long so if you don’t have strong reason so you will burn out quickly.
If you have a passion to help others lives, desire to sacrifice personal lives and can learn stuff quickly and retain it for throughout life then becoming a doctor will be relatively easy for you.
Steps to becoming a doctor in India
After 10th Class Choose relevant subjects
Students who want to pursue the course of MBBS to become a doctor should score well in Class 10th so that s/he can opt the relevant subjects for further study.
Choose Science Stream in Class 11th.
Subject Requirement
Opt for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology in class 11th.
You should have English if you want to apply for a few Entrance examinations such as AIIMS and JIPMER etc.
Complete Class 12th with Science Stream.
Passing Class 12th with at least 60% Marks from the recognized board such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), ICSE Board, Bihar Board etc.
You should be qualified in every subject such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology.
Age Restrictions
You should have at least 17 years ago and below 25 years of age for General Category at the time of applying
Crack MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination. After applying for Medical Entrance Examinations. You should crack these entrance examinations in the respective category.

Details about National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET)
NEET allows you appear in maximum 3 times.
NEET Exam will occur in single phase i.e there will not be any other exams.
Total 180 Objective questions will be asked in the NEET.
You will be given 3 hours to appear for NEET.

Details about All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS)
AIIMS applicants should score at least 60% marks in the class 12th for General and OBC categories
While for SC/ST Differently abled students should score at least 50% Marks in English.
AIIMS asks 200 Objective questions to be completed in 210 minutes.
Details about Jawahar Lal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (JIIPMER). Applicant should have passed the subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English in class 12th.
Entrance Exam for Medical Course Detail
A total of 200 questions will be asked in 150 Minutes
Counseling and selection of Medical Colleges
After cracking the Medical Entrance Examination, Applicant needs to participate in Counselling conducted by authorities. Based on your rank, categories, and availability of seats you will be allowed to take admission in Medical Colleges.
You all must be well aware that Fee in Private Colleges is much higher than Government Colleges so opt government colleges if possible.
Pass MBBS Examination
Clear all the semester examinations of the course.
Complete 1 Year Rotatory Internship
Degree Registration as General Physician
Degree Registration and License issued by the State Medical Council after successful completion of Internship.
